Arch Manning has been one of the most anticipated names in college football, especially now that he’s taking over as the starting quarterback for the Texas Longhorns, with former starter Quinn Ewes ready to sail away to the NFL.

CFB Fans Reject Arch Manning As the Top QB in CBS Sports List
While high expectations surround him, Manning has yet to play in a full capacity, which has some fans doubtful about whether he deserves the top spot in CBS Sports’ quarterback rankings.

“Amazing what a name does 🙄,” a fan wrote.
“No disrespect to Arch, but we can’t keep putting someone number 1 without being a one-year starter.” A fan echoed.
“Manning at 1 is ridiculous until he earns it on the field.” Another fan said. Meanwhile, other fans reasoned and restructured the list.
“Well, it depends on team play. The quarterback can do well if everyone else is, too. Linemen are just as important as WR, RB, and so on. We will see. I think we will have a surprise front-runner this year. Is he on the list? Maybe, maybe not. We will see,” a fan commented.
“1. Carson Beck, Miami 2. Drew Allar, PSU 3. Cade Klubnik, Clemson 4. Garrett Nussmeier, LSU 5. Sam Leavitt, ASU 6. LaNorris Sellers, SC 7. Luke Altmyer, Illinois 8. Rocco Becht, Iowa State 9. Arch Manning, Texas 10. Sawyer Robertson, Baylor,” another fan reshuffled the list.
“Robertson and Lagway should be higher, I think. Sellers still has a lot to prove. Leavitt is wait-and-see because he always had Skat to lean on. Nuss… I’m curious what he looks like without 1st round NFL tackles. And are we sure Manning is #1?” a fan wrote.
While Manning was Ewers’s backup, he still showed his mettle on some occasions. He replaced Ewers for a three-game stretch, during which the latter got hurt with an oblique strain after the UTSA game in September.
Manning played well in those games, as he completed 64.7% of his passes for 806 yards, eight touchdowns, and two interceptions. Arch has himself mentioned that he hasn’t done enough yet. In an interview with ESPN, he said:
“I think a lot of undeserved attention. But hopefully it gets more deserving in the next few months. I don’t think I’ve done enough yet to be taking a lot of pictures at restaurants and signing autographs. But maybe that will come eventually.”
