    Meet Caden Durham’s Family

Caden Durham’s father’s football background and his mother’s decorated track career helped shape him into the explosive, well-rounded athlete he is today. Beyond the athletic traits, his parents also gave him the mentality one needs to be an explosive star in football.

Cade’s father, Corey Durham Sr., played football at Douglass High School in Oklahoma. He has openly credited his dad as the reason he picked up football in the first place, and those early teachings gave him an edge as he developed into one of the nation’s top running back recruits.

“He was the reason that I started playing football,” Durham said. “Since I was like 5, he was teaching me how to cut, how to read blocks, how to read the hole, how to read the defense. All of that stuff that people learn in college, I was learning that at 10.”

His mother, Staneshia Bell, brought another crucial piece to the puzzle: speed and discipline. A standout track athlete at the University of Oklahoma, Bell was a conference champion in the 60-meter dash and an All-American as part of the Sooners’ 4×400 relay team.

“My mom was one of the main reasons why I started running track,” Caden Durham said. “She was a well-known track athlete around the state, so I had to live up to that potential. She is a big influence. I can go to her about a lot of stuff, the good and the bad. She always keeps me level-headed.”

Together, Corey and Staneshia represent a blend of football toughness and track excellence, and that combination is visible every time Caden takes the field. But their support has gone beyond athletic training.

They instilled the important values in their son, the values that one needs to be an accomplished athlete. Everything we see in Durham’s game today is a result of the seeds his parents planted from a very early age. While Caden Durham is now carving out his own legacy at LSU, his family’s fingerprints are all over his rise.
