“LeBron James Can Do Whatever The Hell He Wants” – Trea Turner Welcomes 76ers’ Newest Star To Philadelphia With Priceless Reaction

The biggest NBA free agency saga of the offseason is over as four-time NBA champion LeBron James announced he signed a two-year, $8 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, sending the Philly nation into a frenzy. Analysts, fans, and public figures shared their takes on the blockbuster move, expressing enthusiastic reactions.

Phillies star SS Trea Turner was also asked about James signing with the Sixers for a record-extending 24th NBA season after the series opener against the Yankees at Citizens Bank Park on Friday night.

Reflecting on the question, Turner said he grew up as a Heat fan, acknowledged the greatness James would bring to the City of Brotherly Love, and expressed joy about the Sixers’ other blockbuster offseason acquisitions.

“I grew up a Heat fan, so I got a chance to watch him play quite a bit. I think it’s pretty cool to have one of the greatest basketball players ever to play in the same city. So I’m excited for those who haven’t gotten a chance to watch him play, and we’re rooting for him,” Turner said.

“Wild, the additions have been crazy. I like that, a good core, and adding Brown and LeBron, I think it’s going to be pretty special. So hopefully they stay healthy and come together and win a bunch of games,” he added.

Finally, when asked for any advice he would like to convey to James, Turner gave a blunt reply.

“I don’t need to give no advice to that guy. He can do whatever the hell he wants. But no, I think the city loves winning, so win,” Turner said.

Phillies Skipper And Bryce Harper Echo Trea Turner’s Excitement Over LeBron James’ 76ers Move

It wasn’t just Turner who expressed his enthusiasm to James’ grand announcement; skipper Don Mattingly and former two-time NL MVP Bryce Harper also echoed that reaction when asked about the move.

“I’m excited. I love basketball,” said Mattingly.

“He’s one of the greatest to do it. He’s gonna have a great couple years here, and obviously everybody’s gonna expect him to win a championship, here and everywhere else, so nothing new for him. He’s had all the pressure since he was in high school, younger than that. So obviously, I wish him the best. He’s an incredible competitor, and you know he wants to win. So it’s pretty cool,” harper said.

Back on the diamond, the Phillies will aim to end a disappointing nine-game homestand with a series win over the Yankees after losing back-to-back series to the Mets and the Dodgers.
