Teoscar Hernández’s Dodgers Future in Question Following $240M Kyle Tucker Deal, Per Insider

Teoscar Hernandez’s future with the LA Dodgers seems uncertain after Kyle Tucker’s massive four-year, $240 million signing. Tucker and Hernandez are both corner outfielders, raising questions if the franchise will trade the latter.

According to MLB insider Alden Gonzalez, Tucker’s signing doesn’t mean Hernandez’s trade as the Dodgers can still manage by moving pieces around. They can shift Hernandez from right to left field. Andy Pages can play center field and Tucker can retain his position at right field. Moreover, utility man Tommy Edman can serve as a second baseman.

According to FanGraphs’ projected lineup, the Dodgers will cover the infield with first baseman Freddie Freeman, Edman at second, Mookie Betts at shortstop and Max Muncy guarding the hot corner. The outfield will be recalibrated as mentioned above, with Will Smith serving as catcher, and Shohei Ohtani playing in the DH spot.

Kyle Tucker Shares Hype Video About Joining Dodgers

Kyle Tucker recently released a hype video, documenting his MLB journey so far, including stints with the Houston Astros and the Chicago Cubs, before writing:

    “It’s Time for Dodger Baseball”

Tucker was drafted by the Astros in 2015 and he made his major league debut in July 2018. With the Astros, he was a consistent presence in the postseason, even winning a World Series in 2022. Over the years, he has earned four All-Star selections, one Gold Glove award and two Silver Sluggers.

Before the 2025 season, Tucker was traded to the Cubs for Isaac Paredes, Hayden Wesneski, and prospect Cam Smith. In his only season with the Cubs, the outfielder batted .266/.377/.464 with 22 home runs, 73 RBI, and 25 stolen bases in 136 games.

Now, he’ll be flexing his muscles for the Dodgers, who are on the cusp of etching their name in the history of teams to complete a three-peat. That’s no one better than the Dodgers at the moment, at least on paper, as the back-to-back World Series champions have only boosted their odds by landing Tucker.

Tucker will likely play in the fourth hole in the Dodgers lineup, preceded by three former MVPs, Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman. Given that Betts was a little out of form last season, we might also see Tucker upgraded within the lineup at some point in 2026.
