“Poking The Bear”;”Needs To Stay Humble” – Fans Question Aaron Judge After ‘Bizarre’ Bullpen Signal To Rays In Yankees Win

New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge was questioned by fans after his gesture towards Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Drew Rasmussen on Thursday. The Rays starter allowed a career-high six runs over 2.1 innings.

Cameras caught Judge in the dugout, gesturing toward the Rays’ bullpen, suggesting they bring out a reliever as Rasmussen’s outing unraveled. The moment came during a six-run third inning in which the Yankees finally solved Rasmussen, who had dominated them in previous meetings. Eleven Yankees sluggers took the plate in that inning, forcing Rasmussen out of the game after he surrendered six earned runs.

Judge’s actions from the dugout were criticized on social media.

“Not a fan of this, reminds me of him playing music vs Boston and then lost that series,” wrote a fan. “Jeter would never disrespect the opponent like this. The captain needs to stay humble. The rays and Kevin cash have won more Al east titles than the Yankees have in same time period.”

Despite his rib injury, Judge has been around the clubhouse watching his team lose ground to the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East race. After enduring a prolonged offensive slump, the Yankees finally erupted for a 12-4 victory to split the four-game series.

Aaron Judge’s Re-Imaging Date Revealed By Yankees GM

Aaron Judge has been on the injured list since June 5, having last played on May 31. After suffering a stress fracture in his right rib, the Yankees expected him to undergo re-imaging in four to six weeks.

On Thursday, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Judge will be re-imaged during the All-Star break.

“Cashman said they do not anticipate the imaging will be clean,” The Athletic’s Chris Kirschner wrote on X. “Judge can’t do many upper-body exercises that put any stress on his rib cage. They hope the imaging allows them to start adding upper-body workouts because he’s limited.”

The re-imaging during the midsummer festivities will be important as they hope for Judge to re-join the squad as soon as possible. Assuming everything goes well, Judge will still need at least a month to complete his rehab assignments.

Judge has already missed 33 games due to the injury and will easily miss a dozen more while he targets an August or early September return.
