35-year-old Marcell Ozuna spent six seasons playing for the Atlanta Braves. However, after the 2025 season, the Braves let Ozuna go, and the Dominican Republic baseball star ended up testing free agency. While there were plenty of speculations about where Ozuna would play in 2026, these speculations were put to rest recently.

On February 16th, 2025, it was announced that Ozuna signed a 1-year, $2 million deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates. After the move was made official, Ozuna even sent a chilling message. On Instagram, Ozuna uploaded a video, announcing his move to the Pirates. The video also contained some footage from his time playing for the Braves.

In the caption of the post, Marcell Ozuna wrote:

Marcell Ozuna’s signing with the Pittsburgh Pirates is an interesting decision by the team. Last year, Ozuna had an average season with the Braves in which he recorded 487 at-bats with an average of .232. He also scored 61 runs and hit 21 home runs. It will be interesting to see if Ozuna can perform better when he takes to the field to play for the Pirates.

Marcell Ozuna spoke about the challenges of hitting the ball at PNC Park

At this stage in his career, Marcell Ozuna is an MLB veteran. Having played in the Major League Baseball since 2023, Ozuna has faced many challenges throughout his career. After Ozuna’s move to the Pittsburgh Pirates was announced, the baseball star was asked about the challenge of hitting it to left field at the home of the Pirates, that is, PNC Park.

In his response to the question, Ozuna seemed calm and welcomed the challenge confidently. Ozuna said:

“It’s not a challenge. Every park that you go, you have to play the game. I don’t mind to hit a homer in any park. I’m just missing a couple parks to hit a homer in every park in MLB. It’s no big deal. I’ll hit a homer anywhere.”

Marcell Ozuna’s addition to the Pittsburgh Pirates has excited both fans, players, and the management of the team. In a media interaction, Pirates manager Don Kelly mentioned that Ozuna will be great for all the Pirates players in the clubhouse. He also credited Ozuna for always bringing positive energy.
