“Just Say You Wanna Come Back” – MLB Fans React After Juan Soto’s ‘Family’ Comments On Yankees All-Stars

Mets All-Star Juan Soto posed alongside the three Yankees All-Stars, Cody Bellinger, Cam Schlittler, and Ben Rice, ahead of the Midsummer Classic in Philadelphia.

When asked about the viral image at the red-carpet event, Soto said he shared a deep respect and brotherhood with his former teammates.

“The’re my guys. Ben Rice, he’s my guy. You know we’re a family at the end of the day. It’s a competition in there but in the end we’re firends, we’re brothers. We always get along. We were there talking “Let’s take a picture” because these are the memories that we take with us,” Soto said.

Fans were quick to share their reactions to the viral image and to Soto’s explanation.

“That’s my family bout two people he never played with and one who he barely overlapped with. Just say you wanna come back bro,” one fan wrote.

Soto went 1-for-2 in the Midsummer Classic 1, recording the NL All-Stars’ first hit on Tuesday night. The AL All-Stars secured a 4-0 victory, marking only the second AL shutout over the NL since 2013, when they won 3-0.

How Did Juan Soto Compare the Yankees and Mets Fanbases?

During the MLB on FOX broadcast of the All-Star weekend, Soto joined Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski for a segment hosted by the legendary panel of Derek Jeter, David Ortiz, and Alex Rodriguez. Jeter asked the former Yankee to compare the fanbases of the Subway Series rivals, prompting reflection on their differences.

“Yeah, there are always different fan bases. But they’re both passionate. That’s one of the things that keeps them at the top. And some players have a tough time dealing with a fan base that is always on you, that is always pushing for you to be successful. And they’re not here to wait to see you going through a slump or anything like that. They will let you know if they’re not happy,” Soto said.

“So it’s one of the things that you’ve got to be in the mindset that you’ve got to be at your best. But definitely, it’s different, but at the same time, it’s the same. Because they’re both hungry. They want to win. That’s what I feel with the Yankees. That’s how I feel with the Mets. They’re both teams that want to win, and they can’t wait for it. And that’s one of the things that makes them special,” he added.

Soto is leading a strong campaign for the struggling Mets. He ended the first half with a .290 batting average, 21 home runs, 51 RBIs, 80 hits, and a .967 OPS. Despite his performance, the Mets have a disappointing 40-57 record and sit at the bottom of the NL East with no clear signs of improvement.
