Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes and his girlfriend Olivia Dunne once again set the All-Star Game’s red carpet on fire with their third consecutive appearance. Skenes was wearing a blue suit with a little pattern from State and Liberty, while Livvy was wearing Miss Sohee to complement the right-hander.
Over the last three years, we have seen Dunne go through all types of emotions while she watches the right-hander go about his business on the mound.
On Tuesday, when asked what it’s like to watch Skenes pitch, Dunne said she is always on the edge of her seat.
“Obviously, I think I got put on blast a few times while I’m watching him, right?” Dunne said. “I get nervous because I obviously want him to do his best. I love him and he usually goes out, does his thing, does amazing, but I feel every emotion while he’s out there doing his thing. So you’re yelling and screaming and watching him compete. Yeah, I mean, it’s completely out of my control, which is really hard because while I was competing, I was in control of my own destiny. Now I just need to sit back, relax and trust him.”
Livvy Dunne Admits She Was ‘Frozen’ Facing Paul Skenes’ Fastball
Throughout the season, fans have asked Olivia Dunne to face Paul Skenes’ fastballs in the batter’s box.
Finally, during the Fanatics Super Bowl party in February, Dunne took up the challenge and laced up to face the reigning NL Cy Young winner. During their interview on the red carpet, Dunne admitted she was “frozen” and thought it would be scary to face Skenes’ triple-digit fastballs.
“I think all offseason Paul wanted me to stand in while he was pitching,” Dunne said. “I’ve been procrastinating all offseason because it’s scary and everybody told me it would be very scary. It was the last day of the offseason before he went to spring training and he was like, ‘Nope, come. You’re gonna stand there.’ I thought he was joking and I stood there and I was frozen.”
Meanwhile, Skenes also shared his thoughts on the whole setup in the first place.
“She had been asking me to. She wanted to see it, and then, you know, time comes. We got to see if you’re about it,” the Pirates ace said.
Previously, Dunne acknowledged that it was a scary experience, but she trusted her man enough to know that she would not get hurt.
