Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski took his fourth loss of the season after allowing a run on five hits and striking out 10 in five innings during a 7-2 defeat to the Reds on Thursday in Milwaukee. The Brewers ended their seven-game homestand with a 3-1 series victory over the Reds, having previously lost a three-game series to the Cubs.
While Misiorowski took the loss on July 2, his numbers weren’t as disappointing as they could have been, according to fans who pointed out a fielding error. If it had been ruled a hit, Misiorowski’s ERA would have risen. The incident occurred in the fourth inning, when fans alleged that 1B Jake Bauers made an error to protect Misiorowski’s ERA.
Last night’s loss marked Misiorowski’s second in his past five starts. Despite this, he has stood out this year by recording the highest velocity among starting pitchers on multiple occasions. The Blue Springs native is also a strong candidate for the NL Cy Young Award.
Jacob Misiorowski Will Aim to Bounce Back in His Next Start Against St. Louis
Misiorowski is not someone who will take a loss sitting in the dugout without taking any calculated actions for his next start. The 24-year-old will be aiming to bounce back from last night’s loss when he takes the mound next against the Cardinals at Busch Stadium on Tuesday.
Misiorowski is posting a 9-4 overall record, with a 1.47 ERA, 156 strikeouts, and a 0.78 WHIP this season. The Brewers have been equally good as a team, sitting atop the NL Central standings with a 53-32 overall record, five games ahead of second-place Cubs.
They will now head to the road for a three-game series against the Diamondbacks in Arizona, starting Friday.
