“Ship Francisco Lindor Out” – Mets Fans React As Steve Cohen Confirms Rumored Rift Between Juan Soto & $341,000,000 Star Is In The Past

Reports surfaced last season that Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor had issues with each other. Given the lackluster start to the 2026 season, New York Mets owner Steve Cohen was asked whether either player was in play ahead of the Aug. 3 trade deadline.

In his appearance on ‘The Show’ with MLB columnist Joel Sherman, Cohen shut down the idea of trading Soto or Lindor, adding that the relationship between the two has improved this season.

“I don’t see either of those guys going anywhere,” Cohen said. “And frankly, that was last year’s story. I’m told and believe strongly that these guys are getting along much better. So I just don’t see that as an issue anymore. I’m lucky enough to have two high-quality players like that… I’m thrilled that they’re on the team.”

Fans reacted to Cohen’s comments, speculating on the future of Lindor, who is in the fifth year of a 10-year, $341 million extension.

The Mets have so far traded David Peterson, fired manager Carlos Mendoza, and signed free agent Christopher Morel to a minor league contract. The closer we get to the trade deadline, the more players could be moved. But Soto and Lindor are not going anywhere, according to Cohen.

Interim manager Andy Green Comments On Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor’s Status

Rumors swirled of tension between Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor last season. Following a disappointing 2025 season, the New York Post reported that Soto and Lindor had a “chilly” relationship during their first year as teammates.

On Wednesday, Steve Cohen confirmed that there had been issues between Soto and Lindor in 2025, but those have been resolved.

After the podcast with Joel Sherman aired, interim manager Andy Green also reaffirmed that everything is fine between Soto and Lindor.

“I think those guys are getting along quite well right now,” Green said.

Interestingly, Soto and Lindor have only appeared together in 13 games this season. This is one of the many reasons why the Mets are in a bad spot with a 36-51 record.
