“Kyle Tucker Doesn’t Want To The Be Main Superstar”: MLB Insider Points To A Quiet Factor Pushing 4x All-Star Toward Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the teams linked with All-Star outfielder Kyle Tucker in free agency over the last few weeks. The Dodgers are pursuing the World Series winner to bolster their outfield after consecutive World Series wins.

Tucker has been attracting plenty of interest in free agency, with the New York Mets and the Toronto Blue Jays also reported to be strongly pursuing the four-time All-Star slugger this offseason.

According to MLB insider Alanna Rizzo, the Dodgers have the edge over the Blue Jays and the Mets as Tucker won’t be the center of attraction in a star-studded Los Angeles lineup that features Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman.

Rizzo claimed that Tucker does not like to be the ‘main guy’ and the Dodgers could be the team to give that luxury.

“Kyle Tucker is more of a laid-back, in-the-shadows kind of guy, who doesn’t want to be the main superstar. Well, you know, a really good team for that when you don’t want to ‘the guy, the main face,’ that’ll be the Dodgers because there are about 35 superstars in the team and counting.”

“I do wonder if that plays a role, from a player’s personal preference, where he can go to LA and be among the five or six most recognizable names on the roster and still be a star in baseball. I wonder from a personality standpoint, that also fits and maybe that’s something to keep in mind as negotiations continue.”

MLB insider Reveals Blue Jays as Only Team Willing to Match Kyle Tucker’s Demand

While the Dodgers could use an All-Star caliber outfielder to shore up their outfield, the Blue Jays remain one of the strongest contenders for Kyle Tucker in free agency.

According to MLB insider Jeff Passan, the AL East team, which suffered a heartbreaking Game 7 loss against the Dodgers in the World Series, is the only team willing to match Tucker’s contract demands.

“I think [the Tucker signing is] going to happen this week, and it could be sooner than that, because I think at this point he understands what the market is,” Passan said. “The way that it has played out so far is that the Toronto Blue Jays have really been the only team that has shown the willingness to go as deep as 10 years, potentially.”

However, Passan also reported that the Mets and the Dodgers could tempt Tucker by offering a higher AAV in a potential contract offer for the World Series winner.
