Following Embarrassing Home Loss, Arkansas Fires Offensive Coordinator Dan Enos

The Arkansas Razorbacks are making a change to attempt to correct their offensive woes, as Sam Pittman stated "they ought to be playing better."

Just hours after an embarrassing home loss in Week 8, the Arkansas Razorbacks made a move to potentially correct their woes. After scoring just three points against Mississippi State, Arkansas announced on Sunday that they have fired offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Dan Enos.

The team has lost six straight games and averaged a dismal 2.9 yards per play in Week 8 against Mississippi State. Arkansas is averaging 26.8 points per game, down from 32.4 per game last season, and has largely disappointed once they got into SEC play.

Similarly, since Enos took over in January, each facet has disappointed in Fayetteville.

Compared to 2022’s offensive surge that saw the Razorbacks rush for an average of 236.5 yards per game with KJ Jefferson at the helm, Arkansas has mustered just 872 yards through eight games, an average of 109.0 yards per contest on the ground.

Considering the roster isn’t all that different from last season, the move to oust the man responsible for such an offensive change makes sense.

But it certainly goes deeper than that. Head coach Sam Pittman may be coaching for his job and understands the fact that he doesn’t have time to sort things out.

“We got a lot of decisions to make,” Pittman said following the game against Mississippi State.

Pittman continued and may have slightly slipped of his plans following the game, stating, “Defense is improving, offense we got enough talent on offense we ought to be playing better than what we are, and that’s on me, I got to figure that out.”

The Razorbacks attempted to figure that out ahead of their bye week with the firing of Enos. Arkansas is off in Week 9 and has a date with the Florida Gators in Week 10 in Gainesville.
