Ahmad Hudson Recruiting: Insider Reveals LaAne Kiffin, Will Wade’s Dual Sport Plan For Antonio Hudson’s Son

The LSU Tigers secured a massive win on Sunday with the commitment of five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson, who not only plays football but is a good basketball player, too. Lane Kiffin recruited him for football, but the question arises whether he will play for the Tigers’ basketball head coach, Will Wade, too.

In football, Hudson is ranked No. 16 overall in the nation and the best tight end prospect in the 2027 class. Meanwhile, in basketball, former Tigers alum Antonio Hudson’s son is the No. 3 center in America and No. 24 overall prospect nationally, per Rivals Industry Rankings.

After speaking with sources, The Bengal Tiger’s Shea Dixon claims Hudson had offers from both LSU programs and despite recent coaching changes, he plans to come to Baton Rouge. Dixon mentioned the joint plan in place by Wade and Kiffin, saying:

“I’m told new LSU Basketball head coach Will Wade and the LSU Football staff put a plan in place for how Hudson can navigate his hopes of playing both football and basketball at LSU.”

With LSU basketball, Hudson will carry forward his father, Antonio’s legacy and in football, he is expected to take the reins from 6-foot-7 star tight end Trey’Dez Green, who will probably play his final season this fall.

“On Sunday, a sources on the LSU Basketball side tells me Hudson is not only now considered an LSU Basketball commit, but that Louisiana’s top dual-sport athlete is “100% an SEC-level basketball player”. So, yes, Hudson is considered an LSU commitment for both sports,” Dixon added.

Like Green, Hudson might also have to chart a tough path playing both sports.

Nebraska and Others Were Also Involved in Ahmad Hudson’s Recruiting

Ahmad Hudson was a well-scouted dual-sport athlete and many top programs were keeping a close eye on him since his high school days.

His recruitment chase ended on Sunday with Hudson deciding to stay in-state and pledging his commitment to Lane Kiffin. Nebraska, LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Texas A&M, Missouri, Ole Miss, Louisiana Tech and Grambling were also trying to earn his commitment.

Hudson made the LSU trip multiple times this year while canceling his official visits to Nebraska and Southern California scheduled for next month.

Kiffin seems to be doing great in his first offseason as Tigers head coach, as he has previously earned commitments from four-star prospects Jaiden Bryant (defensive end, Columbia, S.C.), Braylon Calais (wide receiver, Carencro, La.) and Ah’Mari Stevens (wide receiver, Hollywood, Fla.) in the Class of 2027.
