Out of the Game? Arch Manning Reportedly Opts Out of EA Sports College Football 25

While over 10,000 athletes have opted into EA Sports College Football 25, Texas quarterback Arch Manning is reportedly opting out of the game.

The same day that EA Sports College Football 25 announced that over 10,000 student-athletes have opted to be “in the game,” one of college football’s top young players is reportedly opting out.

Fans looking forward to changing Texas’ depth chart might be disappointed that quarterback Arch Manning is reportedly opting out of the game.

According to Anwar Richardson of OrangeWire.com, Arch Manning is focused on his on-field play and has opted out of EA Sports College Football 25.

The news comes as a shock to many fans as Manning is the first known major college football player to opt out of the game.

EA Sports, in an effort to work within the confines of the new Name, Image and Likeness world, announced last month that all college players would have the option to opt into the game. Every player who does so will receive $600 and a free copy of the game.

For the most part, players have been excited about the opportunity to be in the game’s first iteration in over 10 years and the first to contain real names and likenesses in several more years.

Manning is currently second on the depth chart behind Heisman hopeful Quinn Ewers. Ewers threw for nearly 3,500 yards and 22 touchdowns a year ago.

While Ewers has had plenty of success on the field, it hasn’t shielded him from the pressure of Manning behind him. Manning, the nephew of NFL quarterback legends Eli and Peyton Manning, was the top-ranked quarterback in the 2023 class and the No. 1 overall recruit in the On3 consensus rankings.

Manning is patiently waiting his turn, but that doesn’t mean that all EA Sports College Football players would be willing to leave him on the bench. Many players would have likely moved him to a starting role immediately upon starting the game.
