North Texas Mean Green quarterback Chandler Morris entered the transfer portal after a bounce-back season at the Group of Five level. Morris struggled at the Power Five level but had a great season with the Mean Green after transferring down and will probably have some interest from teams at that level this time around.
Which teams could be interested? Here are five potential transfer portal landing spots for Morris.
Where Could Chandler Morris Transfer?
Morris has traveled the southwest as a college football player, starting with the Oklahoma Sooners before transferring to the TCU Horned Frogs and then moving to the Mean Green. Now, he’ll play elsewhere in his final year of eligibility

Morris is a gunslinger, throwing for over 6,000 yards, 47 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions in his career. He’s also added 642 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.
While he’s probably bound for a Power Four school, I don’t think he’s one of the top handful of quarterback transfers, and he could find his level with an ACC, Big 12, or upper Group of Five school.
Here are five potential landing spots for the sixth-year quarterback.
Tulane Green Wave
The Tulane Green Wave is one of the top Group of Five programs in the country under Jon Sumrall but also lost quarterback Darian Mensah to the transfer portal. Morris has a connection to the staff as he and offensive coordinator Joe Craddock were close during Morris’ initial college recruitment.
Craddock is being linked to other jobs at the Power Four level, so this could be a moot point. However, Tulane has more staying power with borderline Power Four recruits than other schools and Morris could thrive there.
Michigan Wolverines
Speaking of Craddock being linked to Power Four schools, the Michigan Wolverines are looking to revamp their offense and have their future quarterback but are in the market for a one-year stopgap.
If Morris wants one year to prove he’s an NFL-caliber quarterback, Michigan could be a good place to do it. There’s less pressure than last season, as it’s doubtful he’d throw over 500 passes again.
Memphis Tigers
The Memphis Tigers have one of the most stable situations in the Group of Five. With an offensive-minded head coach and a strong running game, Memphis has an excellent situation to sell Morris.

The Tigers will be competitive on the open market with Name, Image, and Likeness, which could impact a potential starting quarterback’s decision. Other Group of Five schools could have down years next season, meaning Memphis has the inside track to a College Football Playoff berth.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons
The Wake Forest Demon Deacons will likely be in the market for a starting quarterback this offseason but won’t be as competitive as other schools for the top crop of signal-callers. Because of that, they’ll likely find their favorite quarterback in the next group and put on the full-court press.
Morris’ quick release and decisiveness in the RPO game would make him an excellent fit with Wake Forest.
Texas State Bobcats
I’d be silly not to put Chad Morris’ current school on this list, even if I don’t believe Chandler Morris ultimately ends up in San Marcos, Texas. The Texas State Bobcats had a disappointing second year under G.J. Kinne, but that doesn’t mean they’ll struggle in the future.
Texas State wasn’t overly interested the last time Chandler Morris went into the portal, but that was before Chad Morris became the wide receivers coach. The Bobcats had a weird roller coaster of an offseason when it came to finding its quarterback last year, so I’d expect the Bobcats to lock down their guy early in the process.
