When watching Trey’Dez Green, there are moments where he feels like he could be an outside receiver instead of a tight end. Green has great hands and elite athleticism for a tight end.

A two-sport athlete in high school, Green finished last season with 53 receptions for 960 yards and 12 touchdowns. He’ll be heading to LSU with offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, and Florida.

Another tight end who has shown great athleticism and ability to play outside receiver, Caleb Odom can be a difference-maker in the passing game. He will be built up more as his slender frame doesn’t help in pass-blocking situations but has the speed and route-running skills to be better than any tight end in the class.

    ESPN Position Rank: 7
    Rivals Position Rank: 2
    Consensus Rank: 3

Carter Nelson did it all in high school playing offense, defense, and special teams in football while also playing basketball and track and field as well. Athleticism isn’t a problem for Nelson as he can make the tough catches and play multiple positions. He’ll need to get bigger and stronger for the college level going up against bigger defensive linemen.

Nelson scored 25 total touchdowns in 2022 while averaging 12.5 points per game in basketball his junior year as well. He picked Nebraska over Georgia, Notre Dame, Penn State, and Alabama.

    Rivals Position Rank: 5
    Consensus Rank: 7

Christian Bentancur has the size to go up and make any catch thrown his way. Bentancur can play wide receiver and can line up with the best of them. While he doesn’t have the straight-line speed needed, Bentancur lining up as a tight end going up against a linebacker and safety is a disadvantage for the defense.

He finished the 2023 season with an impressive 92 receptions for 1,345 yards and 21 touchdowns. Bentancur is heading to Clemson after also receiving offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Boston College, and Cincinnati.
