Following the addition of four new teams for the 2024 college football season, the Big Ten Conference has announced a raft of changes to its scheduling format. Additionally, the conference has announced all opponents and dates for the upcoming season.

2024 Big Ten Football Schedule
The times they are a-changing in the Big Ten.
The addition of Oregon, UCLA, USC, and Washington has forced the conference to re-evaluate and re-format their season’s looks, from scheduling to divisions, even to tie-breaking procedures.
The abolishment of the Big Ten West and East divisions was the first move, but the Flex Protect XVII model solidified more moves.

The model protects a number of rivalry games and fixed opponents while providing rotating opponents for each season. Under the new model, there will be nine conference games — unlike in the ACC and SEC where there is eight.
Additionally, each team faces every other Big Ten program at least twice — home and away — with no single opponent faced more than three times in a five-year period. Protected rivalries such as Ohio State vs. Michigan are exempt from the latter stipulation.
