As the calendar turns to March, each college basketball game holds more weight. Teams are constantly fighting for positioning in conference standings as well as seeding for the NCAA Tournament.
As far as the AP Poll goes, 16 ranked teams will appear in an action-packed night of women’s hoops. Five games will come between ranked opponents, setting up for a night where the rankings will almost assuredly be set to shift.

3 WBB Games That Could Shake Up the Rankings Tonight
No. 8 North Carolina vs. No. 16 Duke Blue Devils
- Cameron Indoor Stadium | Durham, N.C. | 7:00 p.m. ET
This rivalry game holds weight in every matchup, but even more when these programs have excellent teams. Currently, both are ranked and, in the loaded ACC, are jostling for positioning in the standings.
This will be the second matchup between the two, with the Tar Heels pulling out a 53-46 overtime win at home. That came despite only four points from leading scorer Maria Gakdeng, who fouled out after only 17 minutes.
Second-leading scorer and leading rebounder Alyssa Ustby stepped up with 10 points and 12 rebounds — despite committing 11 turnovers.
The Blue Devil duo of guard Ashlon Jackson and forward Toby Fournier have had terrific seasons — if they’re able to lead Duke to a home win, the rankings would shift in their favor.
No. 22 Creighton vs. No. 5 UConn
- XL Center | Hartford, Conn. | 7:00 p.m. ET
The Huskies, led by star guard Paige Bueckers, have asserted themselves as one of the best teams in the nation and a true title contender come March.
Paige Bueckers’ floor game is elite.
She has run 155 pick-and-rolls this season — only 6 were turnovers. Her TOVr out of PnR (3.9%) is lower than ANY high-major guard over the last 15 seasons in CBB pic.twitter.com/qcBj50Xdor

The Bluejays will battle Bueckers and Co. with their star duo in the backcourt, Lauren Jensen and Morgan Maly. Both average over 17.0 ppg and 4.0 rpg on solid efficiency from the field — a huge reason for Creighton’s seven-game winning streak entering this game.
UConn has won five games in a row of their own, assisted in part by senior guard Azzi Fudd’s explosive scoring ability.
This will be the second matchup, with the first resulting in a 72-61 Huskies victory. Both Maly and Jensen were held in check. If they can break through, it would be a major upset victory over Big East rival UConn.
No. 11 Tennessee vs. No. 15 Kentucky
- Memorial Coliseum | Lexington, Ky. | 7:00 p.m. ET
Despite being only eighth in the SEC standings with an 8-6 conference record, the Lady Volunteers are on the doorstep of being ranked in the top ten after four consecutive victories.
They’ll put that streak on the line against a Wildcats team led by the dynamic scoring and distributing of fifth-year senior guard Georgia Amoore. They hold a 10-4 SEC record, currently sitting in fourth place.

Tennessee is led by sophomore guard Talaysia Cooper, who’s pouring in 17.0 ppg and grabbing 5.9 rpg.
Whichever way this one turns out, one team will go up and one will go down — securing the potential of the rankings shifting following this contest.
