The Dallas Wings will be on the road to face the Atlanta Dream on Friday at Gateway Center Arena at College Park. This will be the second meeting between the two teams this season after Atlanta secured a 77-72 win in the previous matchup last week.
Both teams are off to solid starts and currently sit in the middle of the standings. Atlanta is third with a 2-1 record, while Dallas is fifth with a 3-2 mark.
While the Wings’ performances have been trending upward lately, they’ve also faced a difficult stretch of opponents along with a demanding travel schedule. Very few players on the roster are used to the toll an early-season run like this can take, making this another test of how well coach Jose Fernandez’s team can handle the pressure.
Dallas enters the matchup on a two-game winning streak and will pose a serious challenge for the Dream. However, Atlanta has already shown it is far from a pushover. Although the Dream are coming off an 85-84 loss to the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday, they had won two straight games before that defeat.
Allisha Gray led the Dream with 25 points and nine rebounds in the loss, while Te-Hina Paopao added 19 points.
The Wings’ season stumbled a bit early due to Azzi Fudd’s struggles, but the 2026 No. 1 pick appears to have found her rhythm over the last two games. She scored 12 points in the last two contests and has looked far more confident taking her shots.
Fudd has also seemed to develop strong chemistry with Paige Bueckers, who leads the team with 20.8 points per game, and Arike Ogunbowale, who is averaging 17.4 points. Their presence has allowed Fudd to focus more on moving the ball up the court and helping create offense. Despite her limited minutes so far this season, Fudd continues to show why Dallas values her highly.
