WATCH: Caitlin Clark Punches the Air in Anger; Gets Technical Four for Losing Her Cool

Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark is considered to be one of the most popular and best players in the WNBA. Like any other league, this comes with a spotlight where every miscue and lapse is seen by onlookers everywhere. With this, referees are more keen on keeping a closer eye on her. As history suggests, NBA and WNBA superstars either get a softer whistle or less attention depending on the game.

As Clark continues to grow as a WNBA star, so does the defensive attention she gets night in and night out from her opponents. It was no different during a sequence in her recent regular season game against the Chicago Sky. At the 6:36 mark of the third quarter, Clark was going up for a layup against multiple defenders. In the replay, posted on X/Twitter, it showed Clark got hit in the face. When she complained about this to a referee, she was handed a technical foul.

Onlookers online have since debated on the play and whether a foul should have been called on Clark’s defenders. The consensus remains that Clark’s actions of shouting at and heckling the referees, resulting in a technical foul, stems from the potential missed call. This turned into a couple of free throws for the Chicago Sky that momentarily extended their lead at that point.

The Indiana Fever went on to defeat the Chicago Sky

Even with her frustrations against the officiating in the game, Caitlin Clark still led her team to victory against the Chicago Sky by eight points, 114-106. As the game became more intense on the Indiana Fever’s home floor, Sky standout Skylar Diggins forced the game into overtime, 98-98, after a three-pointer with just 1.4 seconds to go in regulation.

Still, Clark and company held their ground in the extra period, outscoring Chicago 16-8. In the triumph, Clark dropped 32 points, to go along with seven rebounds, and 10 assists in 40 minutes played. Meanwhile, her co-star in Aliyah Boston tallied a game-high 34 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, one steal and two blocks.
