“Why Not Just Say CC?”: Fans Scrutinise Tyasha Harris For Addressing Caitlin Clark as “Your Favorite Player” in Back-and-Forth With Trolls

Indiana Fever guard Tyasha Harris had an eventful time on X on Monday after she got into a back-and-forth with a section of Caitlin Clark’s fans. It all started with Harris replying to a critical post against her, citing the veteran’s 0-for-4 shooting performance in the Fever’s 84-68 win on Sunday against Las Vegas.

The X user who critiqued Harris deleted the post, but the player’s comment stayed.

“Yall be praying on people downfalls … yall ain’t gotta put down others to support yall fav I had a bad shooting night for sure but we got the dub and what does that help our team as a whole and whoever is your fav ! We all trynna help in anyway we can,” Harris said

A few of Clark’s supporters raised an issue with Harris engaging and taking offense. Most had a problem with Harris addressing Clark as “your favorite player” to the fans. One of them tried to explain the thought process of most supporters, saying it’s been difficult for them to see Clark injured, and that’s why they’re volatile. The user also pointed out that Harris was on last year’s Connecticut Sun team against whom Clark’s injuries started.
However, Harris continued to address Clark as “your favorite player.”
“And like I said here to help your fav player accomplish the main goal,” she wrote.
After Harris refused to name Clark in her comments, the star guard’s supporters called out the Fever veteran.
“why not just say CC?” one fan wrote.

    More reactions followed.

Tyasha Harris directly addresses using the “your favorite player” label for Caitlin Clark

Tyasha Harris engaged with as many fans as possible. In doing so, she addressed the criticism for using the term “your favorite player” for Caitlin Clark. After one of the X users quoted her comment, Harris replied, saying:

“Fans have different favorites on a team right ???”

Harris defended her back-and-forth and downplayed her use of the term in several tweets. She reiterated that her response wasn’t resentment towards Clark and that the main goal was collective success, so the fans should avoid creating a divide.

Harris also said she wasn’t trying to fight any of the fans and was having an opinionated conversation, just like fans do online.
