On Tuesday, Angel Reese’s brother Julian Reese got to play in his second career NBA game after signing a two-way contract with the Washington Wizards. Ironically, both teams involved in this matchup have significant ties to the two-time WNBA All-Star.
In his second outing in the NBA, Julian Reese went up against the Orlando Magic, the very squad that Angel Reese’s boyfriend Wendell Carter Jr. plays for. Carter, however, sat out that game due to left ankle soreness. Still, fans couldn’t help but react to the Reese-centric situation that unfolded.
“She really got Wendell to sit out”
“Angel courtside for Juju’s 2nd NBA game. Big sis energy on 100 – watching her little brother live the dream. Reese family takeover loading. Love to see the support!”
“the most beautiful athletes ever”
“Her brother is gonna make more money on a 2 way contract then she will. I love it. Its business it aint personal”
Meanwhile, other netizens reacted to a clip of Angel Reese busily checking her phone during the Wizards-Magic game.
“She should stop looking at her phone and start taking notes on how to hit a layup”
“She’s paying more attention to her phone than her brother”
From her courtside seat, Reese was able to have a great view of her brother chipping in solid numbers in the Wizards’ 126-109 loss to the Magic. In 32 minutes of action, Julian put up nine points, eight rebounds, and three assists.
Had Carter suited up, the Chicago Sky’s franchise player might have had a more serious conflict of interest.
“Like I Just Hit The Lottery”: Angel Reese Shares Candid Feelings on Brother’s Opportunity to Play for NBA Team
At one point during the Wizards-Magic game, Angel Reese was asked by a sideline reporter to comment on the opportunity that her brother Julian got by signing with the Wizards.
“I was so emotional when I found out. I was crying so hard like I just hit the lottery.”
Reese went on to describe her brother Julian, who played for two years at the University of Maryland, as a “late bloomer.” She also said that the Wizards can expect Julian to “bring the passion” whenever he steps on the court.
