WNBA guard Rebecca Allen did not mince her words while recounting her experience with the Chicago Sky last season during a recent podcast appearance.
While speaking on Saturday’s episode of “The 6th Woman Basketball” podcast, Allen made several references to the Sky, even using the word miserable to describe her time in Chicago.
“I didn’t realize how lucky I had it in New York until I left,” Allen began. “You have to put your players first because if people aren’t happy, the performance goes down massively. If people don’t feel valued, if people don’t feel like they’re taken care of, they get frustrated. I think that was something that I experienced in my last season.”
She also recalled being overwhelmed after having to share locker rooms with the “random public.” During one segment, Allen was asked to describe her former teams using one word. When asked about the Sky, the guard called her time there “a little bit miserable.”
The Chicago Sky’s 2025 season finished with them having the worst record in the league, 10-34.
The Sky also suspended Reese in September for making “statements detrimental to the team.” The disciplinary action came after she expressed her frustrations with the Sky during an interview with the Chicago Tribune.
Reese’s comments were reportedly a pain point for some of the players as well. Following Allen’s recent comments, fans speculated that this situation could have played a part in her bad experience with the Sky.

Allen’s time in Chicago went sour for other reasons as well, with her production falling short of the fans’ expectations, leading to significant criticism. She played 44 games, starting 17 and averaged 5.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. Allen shot 34.2%, including 31.8% from 3-point range.
The last time she shot at a worse split was during her rookie year, when she shot 30% in two games for the New York Liberty. She also participated in the Unrivaled League, playing for the Lunar Owls.
Allen made 13 appearances, averaging 3.8 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.
