This past weekend, Caitlin Clark once again became the talk of the town when she appeared on “NBA on NBC.” At one point in the broadcast, Clark’s fellow analyst Reggie Miller named Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard as the NBA player that reminds him of the Indiana Fever superstar. Hearing these words, Clark had a momentary look of disappointment on her face.
Despite this, Clark appears to have given Pritchard a stamp of approval on social media. Tuesday night, the Celtics posted a clip of the 6-foot-1 guard swishing a pull-up midrange jumper during the team’s matchup against the Dallas Mavericks. In response to this impeccable shot, which Pritchard made right before the first quarter came to an end, Clark posted three smirking emojis.
Pritchard went on to finish with 26 points, four rebounds, and seven assists as the Celtics handily defeated the Mavericks 110-100 at American Airlines Center.
Certainly, a comparison to the reigning Sixth Man of the Year is a huge compliment for any young hooper who is far from the prime of their career. At the moment, Pritchard can boast that he has already won a championship at the pro level, something that Clark can’t claim yet after two seasons in the WNBA.
From another perspective, however, it’s Pritchard who pales in comparison to Caitlin Clark, a world-renowned figure who was named 2024 Athlete of the Year by TIME magazine. As a household name who has significantly contributed to the sport’s popularity, Clark is comparable to her fellow sharpshooter Steph Curry.
To CC’s credit, she didn’t directly disparage Pritchard in the wake of Miller’s comments. Indeed, her tweet on Tuesday night might as well be a salute to the spitfire Celtics guard.
“I’m Going to Wear Stilts Next Time”: Caitlin Clark Jokes About Standing Next to Reggie Miller and Carmelo Anthony
Caitlin Clark is well-known for her humble demeanor, and after her stint as an analyst this past weekend, she took a self-deprecating shot on her X account.
“I’m going to wear stilts next time,” Clark tweeted Sunday as she shared a clip of her NBC appearance.
Standing next to two 6-foot-7 figures in Miller and Carmelo Anthony, the 6-foot Clark appeared to have been intimidated by the physical presence of her fellow panelists that night.
