WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark has her eyes on the College Football Playoff National Championship between the Indiana Hoosiers and the Miami Hurricanes on Monday. Unsurprisingly, the Indiana Fever point guard is rooting for the Hoosiers, who are led by quarterback Fernando Mendoza.
Roughly an hour before the game, a clip of rapper Lil Uzi Vert arriving for the showdown went viral. The “Money Longer” hitmaker, reportedly the quarterback’s favorite artist, brought a Mendoza jersey to cheer for the Hoosiers.
Caitlin Clark reacted to Uzi’s arrival with a tweet:
“If Indiana wins, I hope he performs in the locker room after the game for Fernando.”
No. 1 Indiana is the clear favorite, prompting bookies to give it 7.5 to 8.5 odds to win the championship. Behind Fernando Mendoza, the Heisman Trophy winner, the Hoosiers hold a 15-0 record. They are looking to make history by becoming the first team to go 16-0 and win the competition.
Miami, ranked No. 10, is no slouch, though. The Hurricanes reached the championship game by defeating No. 7 Texas A&M on the road before dispatching No. 2 Ohio State. The underdogs earned the right to face the Hoosiers by sending home No. 6 Ole Miss.
If Fernando Mendoza carries his team to the championship, Caitlin Clark wants Lil Uzi Vert to perform live for the Hurricanes in a postgame celebration.
