Indiana Fever rookie Raven Johnson called out Anthony Edwards during the 2026 WNBA draft. Johnson, who was drafted No. 10 by the Fever, is a two-time champion with the South Carolina Gamecocks.
While speaking at the WNBA draft, Johnson was asked to name one player she would challenge to a one-on-one game
“Anthony Edwards,” Johnson said. “’Cause he can’t guard me.”
When asked what the final score of their game would be, she said:
“0-10, he knows that.”
Johnson’s claim is not a random callout as she personally knows the Minnesota Timberwolves guard, having grown up with him in Atlanta. Edwards and Johnson trained under Justin Holland during their high school days.
Speaking to Andscape, the Fever rookie recalled that she also challenged Edwards to a one-on-one game during their first meeting.
“I said that I could beat him in a one-on-one matchup,” Johnson recalled.
Edwards also recalled his first meeting with Johnson, saying:
“She came into the gym with that exact same energy as me. …For real, she was like a younger version of myself out there.”
Raven Johnson revealed how Anthony Edwards supported her after viral Caitlin Clark moment in 2023
Raven Johnson faced significant criticism on social media after Caitlin Clark waived her off from the 3-point line during a game between the Iowa Hawkeyes and South Carolina Gamecocks.
Speaking at the Indiana Fever’s training camp in April, Johnson said that the criticism after that moment made her want to quit basketball. Writing in the Players’ Tribune in 2024, she revealed how Anthony Edwards helped her at the time.
“He basically told me to use it as fuel to sharpen my game. I remember he was like, ‘Don’t let this bring you down. You know who you are…so you can’t let this situation change you. …You need to get in the gym and work on your weakness…Nothing’s going to be handed to you. You just need to get in the gym and do what others don’t do.’”
While Edwards is in the NBA playoffs, leading the Minnesota Timberwolves, Johnson prepares to make her WNBA debut with the Fever.
