Gabriela Jaquez’s mom, Angela Jaquez, expressed gratitude to WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark after the Indiana Fever guard gave her a shoutout on social media.
Jaquez recorded a game-high 21 points, along with 10 rebounds and five assists, shooting 8-for-14 as she led the UCLA Bruins to the NCAA title against the South Carolina Gamecocks, winning 79-51.
Impressed by Jaquez’s performance in the game, Clark gave a shoutout to the Bruins guard on social media, writing a three-word message.
“Jaquez going crazy,” Clark wrote.
The guard’s mother, Angela Jaquez, took note of Clark’s gesture and thanked the Fever star, writing a message on her Instagram story.
“Yes she did @caitlinclark22. Thank you for recognizing!” Angela Jaquez wrote.
Jaquez had a historic night against the Gamecocks, becoming just the fifth player to record 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in a national championship game. She joins a list of legendary players, including Breanna Stewart, Chamique Holdsclaw and the Gamecocks’ coach Dawn Staley.
Gabriela Jaquez played 38 games for the Bruins this season, averaging 13.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game, shooting 53.9%, including 39.0% from 3-point range. According to multiple mock drafts, Jaquez is projected to be picked in the first round of the upcoming draft.

Apart from Gabriela Jaquez, Caitlin Clark also gave flowers to the UCLA Bruins’ coach, Cori Close. After the game, Clark wrote a message on social media for Close.
“Not many people care about the game as much as Coach Close,” Clark wrote. “Couldn’t be happier for her! Congrats @UCLAWBB.”
Cori Close has been at the helm of the Bruins since 2011, leading the program to its first NCAA title in her 15th season. In doing so, Close became the longest-tenured coach to win their first championship.
With March Madness wrapped up, many exciting college prospects are likely to head to the WNBA via the draft. Meanwhile, Clark will be preparing to hit the court for her third season with the Indiana Fever.
She is expected to be back in action when the Fever face the New York Liberty on April 25 for their first game of the preseason.
