Flau’jae Johnson Joins Elite Company of A’ja Wilson, Candace Parker And More for Rookie Record After Win vs Atlanta

Flau’jae Johnson has entered the WNBA history books after her 24-point display vs the Atlanta Dream. The Seattle Storm got the better of Angel Reese’s team in a 105-90 win. The young trio of Flau’jae, Awa Fam, and Dominique Malonga was too good for the Dream.

The Seattle Storm have had a tough start to the season, but the back-to-back wins would certainly help them find some momentum. In the last two games, Johnson is part of an elite list of players for a special WNBA rookie record. She has scored 50+ points and 20+ rebounds in the last two games. She becomes one of only six WNBA rookies to ever do that. Flau’jae joins A’ja Wilson, Tina Charles, Candace Parker, Tamika Catchings, and Yolanda Griffith.

Johnson had an impressive double-double vs the Dream. She scored 24 points with 11 rebounds. In the last game vs the Liberty, she scored 28 points (career high) and 9 rebounds, making it 52 points and 20 rebounds in the last two games.

This was her first meeting with her former teammate Angel Reese. However, one awkward moment made the rounds on the internet. Flau’jae walked across Reese towards the end of the game and made an effort to shake her hand. Reese, however, dismissed this attempt with a gentle shove on Johnson’s stomach. This surprised Flau’jae, and she nodded as she walked away.

After defeating the Atlanta Dream, Johnson took to her X account and shared 4 words.

She showed gratitude and said, “God is so amazing.”

The Golden State Valkyries originally selected Flau’jae as the 8th overall pick in the 2026 WNBA draft. They traded her draft rights to the Seattle Storm and welcomed Marta Suarez and a 2028 second-round pick. She is averaging 12.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game.
