Angel Reese’s Atlanta Dream fell to the Seattle Storm on Saturday. The Storm have been one of the worst-performing teams so far this season. Meanwhile, the Dream have shown some promise. This 105-90 win is a big boost for the Storm.
Angel Reese had a decent outing but missed out on another double-double by just 1 rebound. There was a moment in the game when Storm’s rookie Awa Fam dominated Reese. Fam convincingly blocked Reese’s lay-up, which led to the Dream star falling. Strong block and the tumble drew fans’ reactions.
Other than the highlight-worthy block, Awa Fam scored 21 points while shooting 8-9 from the field and 5-6 beyond the three-point line. Fellow rookie Flau’jae Johnson led the Storm with an impressive double-double. She scored 24 points with 11 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Dominique Malonga also had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Natisha Hiedeman contributed with 20 points and 6 assists.
For the Dream, Rhyne Howard continued her good form as she scored 27 points while shooting 10-17 from the field. Reese had 17 points and 9 rebounds. Allisha Gray was the only other Dream player who scored in double digits (15 points). Jordin Canada had 10 assists but it was not enough vs an inspired Storm performance.
Angel Reese seemingly dismisses former LSU teammate Flau’jae Johnson
When there was just over a minute left on the clock, the Storm earned a free throw. While Natisha Hiedeman went to the free throw line, Flau’jae walked across Reese. The Storm star then turned back and tried to shake Reese’s hand in the spirit of sportsmanship.
Disappointed Reese put her had across and rejected her former LSU teammate’s approach. Flau’jae was visibly taken aback and nodded after the dismissal. The exchange drew a shocking reaction from the commentators.
