Caitlin Clark Keeps it 100% Real on LeBron James Putting 23rd NBA Season’s Needs Over Chocolate Cookie Obsession

WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark is a big-time fan of LA Lakers forward LeBron James. In July last year, she called him her “GOAT” and “my favorite player of all time.” Clark looks to follow in the same road to basketball greatness as the four-time NBA MVP.

On Tuesday’s “Mind the Game” podcast with co-host Steve Nash, the four-time MVP opened up about making sacrifices to return to playing basketball. James told Nash that he gave up chocolate chip cookies “to give himself the best opportunity to get back.”

Caitlin Clark reacted to what LeBron James said:

“I’d rather retire than do this. This is why he’s him.”

James missed his team’s first 14 games of the season due to a nerve injury. The start of his record 23rd NBA season did not go as planned, prompting James to adapt and make changes. Besides chocolate chip cookies, James added that he has been skipping wine to maintain elite conditioning.

Caitlin Clark, who played just 13 games last season due to different nerve injuries, would rather stop playing than do what James did.

The Indiana Fever point guard dealt with a left quad strain to start the 2025 season before left and right groin injuries forced the team to shut her down in September. She was relegated to a cheerleading role as the Fever gave the Las Vegas Aces, the eventual champs, their biggest challenge in the playoffs.

Fans React to Caitlin Clark’s Comment About LeBron James Giving up Chocolate Chip Cookies

Caitlin Clark and LeBron James are two of the most popular and followed athletes across any sport. Clark’s comment about James’ sacrifice to return to playing basketball quickly went viral, prompting many to react.

    One fan said:

“All he does is lie, so good luck to anyone who believes this.”

    Another fan added:

“Lmao. Caitlin gets it, chocolate chip cookies are non-negotiable.”

    One more fan continued:

“Caitlin Clark gets it… some things are just too real to give up.”

    Another fan commented:

“He was winning MVPs and rings eating cookies so don’t worry, you can stop cookie eating around year 20 Queen.”

    One fan tweeted:

“He didn’t give them up. Pat Riley took his cookies away.”

Clark’s response received mixed reactions. Some thought she fell for an alleged lie from James, while others thought she couldn’t be more real and candid with her words.

LeBron James has been quite healthy since returning from a nerve injury. Caitlin Clark has been working hard over the past few months, looking to be just as healthy when the next WNBA season starts.
