Texas Longhorns forward Madison Booker joined former Iowa superstar Caitlin Clark in the NCAA tournament record books on Sunday. Booker tallied 40 points, eight rebounds and five assists to lead the No. 1-ranked Longhorns past No. 8 Oregon 100-58. She became just the fourth player in tournament history to have at least 40 points, five rebounds and five assists in one game.
Clark, who has three such games during her legendary career with the Hawkeyes, received reactions from fans. One fan wrote:
“3X. Man, CC is 1 of 1.”
Another added:
“Ain’t it weird how all these achievements by so many different players the one player that they always seem to join is Caitlin Clark. Go figure.”
One more fan continued:
“lol…X3 what a fkn GOAT”
Another fan commented:
“CC did it 3x and on of them was a triple-double.”
One fan tweeted:
“People really want us to believe she was regular.”
In the 2023 Elite Eight showdown against Louisville, Caitlin Clark dazzled with 41 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds. Clark’s jaw-dropping numbers were the first 40-point triple-double in NCAA tournament history.
Five days later, Clark dropped 41 points, eight assists and six rebounds to help No. 2 Iowa beat the top-ranked South Carolina. The point guard was the biggest reason the Gamecocks lost for the first time that season, a defeat that sent them out of the tournament.
In a 2024 Elite Eight rematch against LSU, Caitlin Clark delivered 41 points, 12 assists and seven rebounds in Iowa’s 94-87 win.
Madison Booker made history in Texas’ biggest game of the season. Before her 40-point explosion on Sunday, Booker’s best in the tournament was 21, which she did against Alabama in 2024. The explosion from the Longhorns’ leader turned what some expected to be a tight contest into a blowout win.
Caitlin Clark Owns Multiple NCAA Tournament All-Time Records
Caitlin Clark is a legend in NCAA tournament history. Although she never won the championship, she holds multiple tournament records that will be tough to break.
In Clark’s final game, she had 30 points against South Carolina in 2024, raising her production to 492 points in 17 NCAA tournament games. According to ESPN, Clark’s tally was “the most in history of both women’s and men’s NCAA tournaments.”
Clark also owns the record for most points in one tournament after having 191 in 2023. During that run, she recorded 32 3-pointers and 60 assists, also the most by a player in a single tournament. Clark’s 152 total assists in 17 games is also No. 1 in tournament history.
