Brittney Griner Takes Grave Offense After Fan Accuses Her of Being Jealous Over “Dirty” Play Against Aliyah Boston

Brittney Griner was seemingly offended by a fan on social media, who insinuated that Griner was “jealous” of Indiana Fever star Aliyah Boston.

Griner and Boston faced each other in the 3v3 women’s basketball league, Unrivaled. During one play, Griner committed a hard foul on the Fever star as both forwards went up to grab a loose ball.

Videos of the play were shared on social media, where they quickly went viral. One fan reacted to the clip, suggesting that Griner is a “dirty” player.

“Brittney Griner is a dirty player who’s jealous of Aliyah Boston,” the fan wrote.

Griner took offense at the fan’s post and let them hear, leaving a strong message in the post’s comments section.

“Why would I be jealous of someone when I’ve played against Legends and Goats! She ain’t got shit I want or ever want!” Griner wrote.

It is worth noting that Boston played for Vinyl BC during Unrivaled’s first season while Griner played for Phantom BC. It made for quite a matchup as the two faced their former teams on Friday.

Griner had a solid game against Aliyah Boston’s Phantom BC, finishing with 12 points, six rebounds and two blocks. Boston recorded 21 points and 11 rebounds, leading her team to a 78-69 win.

Brittney Griner commits to the Atlanta Dream amid impending free agency decision

Brittney Griner, who is a free agent this summer, will enter her 13th season in the WNBA in 2026. She played 39 games for the Atlanta Dream last season, averaging 9.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.

Despite her decreased role in Atlanta, Griner is looking forward to re-signing with the Dream once free agency begins.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Griner said. “Everybody on that team, it was just easy. Basketball was the main focus; we showed up, we hooped, and that’s all you can ask for.”

“And I’m looking forward to being there again. I’m looking forward to just being in the city. The city was amazing. They welcomed me so well, and I had a blast,” Griner continued.

Griner has enjoyed a decorated WNBA career, winning two Defensive Player of the Year awards, while also being named to six All-WNBA teams and six All-Defensive teams.

While she intends to return to Atlanta, many teams could be willing to take a chance on a seasoned veteran like her.
