Angel Reese wasn’t impressed with how the 2026 WNBA All-Star voting turned out after none of the Atlanta Dream players made it. Reese expressed her frustrations, not just with her snub, but with her teammates, Alisha Gray and Rhyne Howard, too.
“I expect to be disrespected,” Reese said (via ESPN’s Kareem Copeland). “For those two though, I think they work so hard and they put a lot of work in, and the way that they’re guarded every game and they [have to] adjust. The reason why we’re where we are is because of those two. For us not to have anyone was just a slap in the face, but they’re not going to say anything. I am.”
The fans have 50% stake in the votes, while the media and players get 25% each. Howard finished fifth in her accumulated score among guards, while Gray was sixth. Reese came in seventh among frontcourt players.
Copeland wrote that Reese wished for the Dream fans to “galvanize” around her, Howard and Gray, as fan voting could have put them in contention to start. Reese’s fan rank was No. 6 among frontcourt players. Gray and Howard were seventh and ninth, respectively, among guards.
Reese and the Dream had the perfect opportunity to prove they were snubbed on Thursday by snapping a three-game losing streak against the Washington Mystics. Instead, they lost their fourth straight game, losing 81-76.
Reese finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds but had another underwhelming shooting game, going 6-for-15. WNBA fans mocked the forward for putting up that performance following her passionate comments on falling short in the All-Star starter voting race.
One fan said:
“As she proceeds to go 6/15 in a loss to the mystics”

Brandon Jennings questions Angel Reese’s All-Star starter snub
Former NBA star Brandon Jennings was among those puzzled by Angel Reese’s All-Star starter snub on Thursday. Jennings took to X to express his shock at it, saying:
“How Angel Reese not all star Starter”
Reese is in the middle of her best WNBA season, averaging 14.8 points, 11.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.6 steals. She leads the league in rebounds and double-doubles.
While the snub may surprise many, it wasn’t by a wide margin. Reese finishing sixth in fan, player and media voting indicates that she came very close. However, she lost a spot by a thin margin.
Moreover, it’s difficult to argue that anyone selected over Angel Reese in the frontcourt wasn’t deserving enough. That list includes multi-time All-Stars like A’ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, Aliyah Boston and Natasha Howard.
Gabby Williams will make her second All-Star appearance, while Jessica Sheppard will make her debut as the season’s only triple-double getter thus far.
