“Sh*t Just Sucks”: Travis Kelce Gets Emotional on Patrick Mahomes Devastating Acl Injury During Chargers Loss

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs squad said goodbye to their last hope of making it to the Playoffs this year during the 16-13 loss to the LA Chargers in week 15.

While it’s already a devestating fact that the Chiefs will not be playing in the Playoffs this year, ending the streak of 10 straight playoff berths, the team saw their quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, face a scary injury in the last minute of the game in the fourth quarter, after which he had to be taken to the locker room with the help of two staff members.

It was later announced that Mahomes had suffered an ACL tear and had to undergo surgery on Monday.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce, who is also a close friends with Mahomes, took a moment to share his thoughts about the moment his QB got injured and said:

“It’s just it’s never easy seeing your guys go down. We had a bunch of guys get hurt this past game. And um and we fought, man. We fought. We had some guys fight through some stuff. We had some guys, unfortunately not make it back out on the field and um for the season to be going like it did uh up to that point and we’re on our last, you know, quest to try and keep our playoff hopes alive there in the fourth quarter and on a freakish play to see 5 go down like that, man.”

“It was almost like it was, it wasn’t real and um and [ __ ] just sucks, man. um for a guy that puts in that much and um puts his body on the line week in week out and and you know makes this football world uh he makes the best of it man by by how hard he works and it just it sucks man.” (4:30)

Jason Kelce Gives His Two Cents on Travis Kelce’s Retirement Chatter

Travis Kelce hasn’t had the best season of his career. While he is still competing with the young talent in the league at 36, many believe it’s time for the Chiefs’ TE to hang up his boots.

During an appearance on ESPN’s Monday Night Football, Travis’ brother, Jason, who retired from the league in 2024, shared his thoughts on what Chiefs TE should do about his future in the sport.

“In my opinion, to nail that decision, you’ve got to step away from the game for a little bit,” Jason said on Dec. 15.

Jason advised Travis to play the last three games and enjoy them with his teammates and coaches, highlighting that it will look a lot different next year, whether he decides to come back or not.
