On Monday, Serena Williams shared an interesting clip from her latest tennis session. The 23-time Grand Slam champion learned a great deal from her father and she’s passing on that wealth of knowledge to the next generation.
Williams shared a photo in which she is practicing tennis on one court. In the background, her two daughters, eight-year-old Olympia and two-year-old Adira, are also playing. Olympia is doing some nice movements, while Adira is barely moving around, and her father, Alexis Ohanian, spotted that big difference in the “Generational Wealth Tennis” clip from Williams.
Under the comments section, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian commented on Adira’s playful yet lackluster movement from center of the court to the baseline.
“DiDi! She doesn’t seem locked in…😂” he commented.

Williams and Ohanian welcomed Olympia Ohanian on Sept. 1, 2017. They welcomed another daughter, Adira, in August 2023. Williams and Ohanian have made sure to motivate their daughters to take up sports. This was not the first time we saw two generations of tennis stars in the same tennis session.
Serena Williams’ Thoughts On Teaching Tennis To Olympia and Adira
Serena Williams and Venus Williams went on to achieve great things. They both started learning tennis at a very early age with their father. However, in past interviews, Williams shares that she doesn’t want to force her children into playing tennis aggressively.
“I’m like, ‘If she wants to play tennis we got to.’ But I don’t push her cause I’m like, she’s four,” Williams said. “Which makes my dad [Richard Williams] so amazing cause I couldn’t have done that.”
When asked how good Olympia is at tennis, Williams said:
“She’s alright. I’ve seen 4-year-olds that might take her out.”
Williams herself doesn’t teach Olympia tennis. She signs up for tennis lessons with a coach. She reveals the reason behind it.
“I don’t have the patience to teach tennis,” Williams says. “I don’t really like to play with people who don’t know how to play tennis well. It drives me nuts.”
Both Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian are big pushers for women’s empowerment, the Reddit co-founder more so with his investments in women’s sports ventures.
