Naomi Osaka’s mother Tamaki Osaka drew attention with her outfit during her daughter’s fourth-round match against Aryna Sabalenka at Wimbledon on Sunday.
Tamaki wore an orange floral outfit, a hat, and oversized sunglasses as she sat in the stands, watching her daughter deliver a dominant performance to defeat the World No. 1 6-2, 7-6(2) and book her place in the quarterfinals.
During her on-court interview, Osaka joked that her mother’s home-cooked Japanese meals have been giving her energy to perform. She said:
“My mom is over there. She cooks a lot. I feel like her cooking is powering me. Mom I would really appreciate another meal tonight. Thank you so much! A bunch of Japanese food. Shout out Japanese food.”
Fans on X complimented Tamaki’s style and home-cooked meals.
Naomi Osaka has often embraced her multicultural heritage. Born to a Haitian father and a Japanese mother, she has proudly celebrated both cultures, both on and off the court.
