What Really Happened With Iga Swiatek, Her Father Tomasz & Sports Psychologist Daria? All You Need To Know About The Controversy Rocking Poland Now

Iga Swiatek has landed in a controversy amid the 2026 season for the relationship with her longtime sports psychologist, Daria Albramowicz. Multiple critics, including her former coach and a journalist, have raised questions over the relationship, and this garnered a fierce reaction from the Pole’s father, Tomasz Swiatek.

Swiatek’s latest outing on the court came at the Qatar Open, where she lost to Maria Sakkari in the quarterfinals. The Greek player claimed the last two sets of the three-set match, claiming a 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 win. Following this loss, the world No. 2 announced that she won’t be a part of the ongoing Dubai Tennis Championships and is currently gearing up for the Indian Wells tournament.

Amid this, on Sunday, the ‘Trzeci Serwis’ channel released an interview where one of Swiatek’s former coaches, Artur Sostaczko, sat for a conversation with the Polish journalist, Lechem Sidorem. Here, they assessed her game and raised questions about Albramowicz’s role as a psychologist.

What Did Artur Sostaczko and the Polish Journalist Say About Iga Swiatek’s Bond With Her Psychologist?

In the recently released podcast, Sostaczko and Sidoren analyzed Swiatek’s recent games, and the former said that he hasn’t seen any other player spending as much time with their psychologist as the world No. 2. He said:

“I don’t know of any other case where a player spends day and night with a psychologist. There are joint vacations, matches, movies, said the coach. But if it suits Iga, I won’t discourage her.

“People need to understand that I can express my opinion or be a little surprised, but if it suits the player, who is ranked second and was once No. 1 in the world, with six Grand Slam titles to her name, what can we offer or advise her?”

Replying to this, the journalist said that their relationship looks more personal than professional.

“Let me counter that. At the Australian Open and in Doha, it wasn’t clear that Daria Abramowicz was helping in any way. Iga is a bundle of nerves; she doesn’t have any mechanisms she could put into practice, such as sign language. The world is starting to look at this arrangement differently, with different eyes.”

Recalling the claims that were laid upon Swiatek and Daria’s relationship in 2025, Sostaczko added:

“You’re right, something isn’t working again. But what I’m getting at is that maybe during the preparatory period it would be worth going on vacation separately for a while. Even for a week, just give it a rest.”

The conversation between the coach and the journalist about the psychologist’s role in Swiatek’s career went on for three minutes in the podcast.

How Did Iga Swiatek’s Father React to the Critics’ Comments?

Shortly after the podcast aired on YouTube, these comments started making rounds on the internet, and Iga Swiatek’s father, Tomasz Swiatek, was quick enough to shut them down with a harsh comment. Taking to his Facebook profile, he slammed both the critics, penning a furious note that read:

“What have you both achieved? Almost nothing. Mind your own business. You’re both sleeping with each other, you know.”

Iga Swiatek has changed multiple coaches in her career, but Daria Abramowicz has been associated with the Pole for the last seven years.
