Ben Shelton has been dating Washington Spirit and USWNT star Trinity Rodman for almost a year. Since going public with their relationship, the couple has been frequently spotted together at various events, especially supporting each other at their matches.
Rodman recently accompanied Shelton to Auckland, New Zealand, where he began his Australian swing at the ASB Classic. The couple went on romantic dates and spent quality time together before the soccer star headed back home a day before the Australian Open began.
Rodman is arguably one of the most talented soccer players in the NWSL and became the highest-paid women’s soccer player after signing her first contract extension with the Spirit in February 2022.
According to the latest reports from
ESPN, she has yet again broken the ceiling by signing another
contract extension with the Spirit, which will see her play in D.C. through 2028 and earn a $1 million annual salary.
Shelton was quick to react on social media, as he celebrated Rodman’s contract extension with the Spirit. He
shared a reel where the soccer star could be seen showering her love for the fans and the city of Washington, D.C.

Rodman will aim to start the new NWSL season with a bang after failing to win the championship last season. The Spirit lost to Gotham F.C. in the final. While the soccer star prepares for the new season, Shelton is aiming to continue his run at the Australian Open.
Ben Shelton is Aware of Valentin Vacherot’s Talents and is Ready to Face Him in R3 of the Australian Open
After registering a dominant win against Dane Sweeny in the second round, Shelton has shifted focus to his next opponent, the rising Monégasque talent, Valentin Vacherot. In an exclusive interview, Shelton revealed that he had faced Vacherot in college and on the ATP Challenger Tour, and that he was aware of his talents.
“Yeah, I think it just shows that, you know, the game of tennis is very mental, and the level difference between guys who are playing challengers to the top of the world, it’s not massive,” Shelton said.
“I played him in one of the early challengers I played, and we had an absolute war. I think I beat him 5 or 6 in the third. Even since he was in college, he’s always been a problem,” he added.
“I’m not shocked to see him, you know, in the top 100 and having great results on the tour. I think that he has a lot of weapons. I think he’s great physically. I think he’s a tough competitor. Yeah, I think it’s a great third-round matchup,” Shelton concluded.
Shelton and Vacherot are scheduled to play their third-round match at the Margaret Court Arena on Saturday.
