Ben Shelton’s Desperate Call For Partner At Dallas Open Gets Successful Result Within Hours

Ben Shelton has revealed his new doubles partner for the ATP 500 Dallas Open, beginning Monday, February 9. On Thursday, February 5, he put out a request, saying that he was looking for someone to play doubles with in the upcoming tournament.

In a selfie video from a tennis training facility, the American said (via his Instagram):

“I need a partner to play doubles with at the Dallas Open next week. Hit my line.”

In another Instagram story on Friday, the 23-year-old revealed that he would be teaming up with his compatriot Aleksandar Kovacevic.

    “Kova came thru,” he wrote.

Ben Shelton will play both singles and doubles in Dallas. He reached the quarterfinals of the 2026 Australian Open last month, but lost to World No. 2 Jannik Sinner in straight sets.

Ben Shelton Remains Optimistic Despite Australian Open QF Loss

Four-time Grand Slam champion Jannik Sinner defeated eighth seed Ben Shelton 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. The Italian now leads the head-to-head series against the American, 9-1.

However, Shelton believes his game has been consistently improving. In the post-match press conference, he said he was losing only to the top players.

“I think my level is better, and I’m getting better and better and becoming a lot less limited. I think this game takes time, and the results don’t always come when you want them. I’m getting to the point now where I’m getting stopped by the toughest challenge in the game for the most part, and I do think that I’m close to bringing it all together,” Sinner said (via ATP Tour).

“I think it’s just going to take that one time where I do it to kind of get me over the hump. It’s always been that way for me. Certainly not discouraged from a performance like this, but I want to see myself get out in front and see what I can do from there in a match rather than falling behind just because I know how I feel when I get out in front at Slams. I feel like I’m untouchable. I guarantee the other guys at the top feel the exact same,” he added.
