Ryan Williams Hits 21.9 mph, Outworks Teammates in Practice During New Docuseries

As if Alabama fans don’t already know it, they have themselves a superstar wide receiver in soon-to-be sophomore Ryan Williams.

The 18-year-old pass-catcher is one of the best players in college football and might also be one of the fastest.

    Ryan Williams Can Fly

One of the many reasons why Williams was able to be so successful at such a young age for the Crimson Tide was because of his speed.

In fact, according to the “Bama Football on YouTube” channel, Williams had a practice last season in which he ran 8,037 yards. In addition to that crazy amount of running, he clocked in at 21.9 miles per hour that same practice, which was the best on the team.

Yes, he is one of the most polished route-runners and sure-handed pass-catchers in the entire country. But, it is fair to say that part of the reason why he was so great at just 17 years of age was his electric speed.

    Williams’ Elite Numbers

Again, Williams’ speed led to a very productive season.

The 6’0″, 176-pound pound man from Saraland, AL earned All-American and All-SEC honors after posting 48 receptions for 865 yards and eight touchdowns. His 18.0 yards-per-reception average was one of the best in the land too.

How many 17-year-old kids can do what he did on the biggest stage? Likely none, if any. If it wasn’t for Jeremiah Smith at Ohio State, Williams might be holding the mantle as the best WR in the country.

Unfortunately for the fans in Tuscaloosa, the Crimson Tide failed to reach the SEC Championship Game after going 5-3 in conference. The team ended up going 9-4 overall, which is not something anybody is used to seeing from the Crimson Tide.

However, it was the first year coaching at Alabama for head coach Kalen DeBoer, who has won nearly everywhere that he has been. It will be up to players like Williams to play to a certain standard in an effort to improve the results of the team from last year.

Look for the Tide to be in the running for a spot in the College Football Playoff next season if they can get out of their own way.
