Part of being a great athlete also involves being a good human being because you can’t be great without the players around you. They aren’t going to respond to someone who doesn’t care about them or who treats them with disrespect.
Judging by Becht’s words, he appears to be a player who others respond to and want to play with.
Becht’s Impressive Numbers
Being a good leader and a good player goes hand in hand. Becht has been fantastic at both since he stepped foot in Aimes back in 2022.
The son of a coach, the 21-year-old Becht has turned in back-to-back seasons with 3,000+ passing yards and 23+ passing touchdowns. He is also coming off a season that saw him put forth his best effort on the ground.
In 14 games played, Becht rushed for 318 yards and eight touchdowns, which caused defenses to break down seeing as they had to worry about the wide receivers and tight ends.

He helped lead Iowa State to its best season in school history as the Cyclones finished with a record of 11-3 and a win over Miami in the Pop-Tarts Bowl. If Becht can take his play up a notch in his senior season in 2025, perhaps Iowa State could have its eyes set on making the College Football Playoff.
He is on his way to being remembered as one of the school’s best players of all time, but can he finish the job and take them farther than they’ve been one more time? Time will tell as the 2025 season inches closer and closer.
