Patrick Mahomes’ Legacy At Texas Tech
Patrick Mahomes is the finest product Texas Tech has given to the NFL.
The Chiefs quarterback played for the program from 2014 to 2016, recording 11,252 passing yards and 93 touchdowns over 32 games. In his final season, he completed 388 of 591 passes for 5,052 yards, 41 TDs, and a passer rating of 157.0.
Over the years, Mahomes has given back to the program and community in different ways. Last year in August, Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, donated $5 million to Texas Tech’s athletics for the renovation project for the south end zone and the new Dustin R. Womble Football Center.
“It’s been really cool to see all the things I learned at Texas Tech and how they’ve made an impact in my life in the NFL,” Mahomes said, “and they’ll continue to make an impact in my life the rest of the way.”
The school has also honored Mahomes’ legacy by naming the new quarterback meeting room and the offensive coordinator’s office after his name.
Mahomes is also central to the 10-year partnership between Adidas and Texas Tech, and his signature “Gladiator” logo is present on official uniforms.
