The Nebraska Volleyball team recently received a new associate head coach who will work alongside coach Dani Busboom Kelly. Jeylen Reyes was announced as the associate Kelly.
Reyes joined the Huskers program in 2018. He has served as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the team since then. Reyes has elevated himself as one of the top recruiters in the nation, helping the Big Red team earn the No. 1-ranked recruiting class for both the 2021 and 2023 seasons. In his eight years with the Huskers, the team won three Big Ten titles in 2023, 2024, and 2025. They have also reached the NCAA Championships thrice.
In 2025, the Huskers recorded their second-longest win streak in school history. The team registered 33 wins to post an unbeaten regular season for the third time after 1994 and 2000.
The Huskers revealed the associate coach decision to fans on Instagram by writing:
“Elite at reading the game and leading the way. 🫡 @jayrey_12 has been promoted to Associate Head Coach after being an integral part of the Huskers’ success over his eight years.”

Before joining the Cornhuskers, Reyes served as an assistant coach for the BYU men’s volleyball team from 2016 to 2018. In 2019, he was also an assistant coach for the U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team.
