Maisie Boesiger recently shared a heartwarming story that perfectly captured the close-knit culture within the Huskers volleyball program. The libero opened up about an unexpected and spontaneous gesture from her teammates for her younger sister, Malorie Boesiger.
Boesiger, who joined the Huskers in 2022 as a freshman, wrapped up her collegiate career after the 2025 NCAA Championships. The Nebraska Cornhuskers experienced a perfect regular season, and they remained unbeaten till the regional finals. They lost to Texas A&M on December 14, marking the end of their campaign. Even though they couldn’t lift the trophy, the team had a great time together.
Amid the 2025 season, on November 8, several Nebraska players, including Harper Murray, Taylor Landfair, and others, attended Boesiger’s younger sister, Malorie’s, match immediately after returning from a road match against Minnesota. In a recent interview with Huurdat Sports, the former Husker opened up about this incident where she and her Nebraska teammates joined the Norris student section.
“It honestly came together like towards the end of the flight. We were landing and I was texting my dad and I was like, ‘Hey Dad, like what’s, what’s the status of the game? Are we gonna make it?’ And he said that warm-ups were just getting started as we landed and we land in Lincoln and it’s literally like an 8 minute drive to Devaney, so I was like, the game hasn’t started yet and then when I said that a few people were like, wait, we all wanna come. So then everyone ended up deciding to come to watch Mal and we, it was like a racetrack almost everyone was following each other, getting to the game we parked and we sprinted inside of Devaney and stood in the Nora student section,” said Maisie Boesiger.
Adding to this, she also said that it was an unplanned and ‘amazing’ experience.
“That was not planned, but we walked in and there was smell like there was nowhere to go, so we’re like, well, we’re just gonna stand here. So there’s clips of us there. It was amazing.”

Revealing the recruitment process, she said that it was her dream to be a part of the Huskers. Speaking about how excited she was after getting recruited for the team, she said:
“The recruiting process looks different for everyone and it’s a really cool process to go through but I just have loved Nebraska my whole life. It’s been a dream of mine to be able to play for the Huskers and when it was a dream that ended up being able to become a reality I was so excited,” said Maisie Boesiger.
