The Colorado Avalanche have continued their momentum in their Round 2 opener. They are up against the Minnesota Wild, and interestingly, their first game in the NHL Playoffs was high-scoring. There were 15 goals scored in that game, and the Avalanche won with a total score of 9-6.
The first game between the two teams was played at Ball Arena, giving Colorado’s home advantage. Interestingly, Game 2 will also take place there, with the Avalanche having a solid advantage in gaining a larger lead in the series. The puck for the second game will drop on Tuesday, May 5, at 8 p.m. ET.
For the fans who are looking to watch the game from their home, here’s how they can tune in:
- TV Channel: ABC, ESPN, or ESPN2

- Radio: 97.5 The Fanatic
So far, the Colorado Avalanche have been dominant in the playoffs, winning their first-round matchup against the Los Angeles Kings with ease. They ended up sweeping them 4-0, eliminating the Kings from the NHL Playoffs. Interestingly, if they win Game 2 against the Wild, it will be their sixth consecutive win in the playoffs, boosting their momentum significantly.
On the other hand, the Wild had a decent season this year, defeating the Dallas Stars 4-2. Minnesota looked good in their first series, but they need to step it up against Colorado.
The Avalanche HC appreciates one defenseman who helped them to win

Cale Makar was Colorado’s top player in Game 1, scoring two goals in the third period and assisting on one. Makar was essential to the squad, and head coach Jared Bednar praised him after the game for his comeback after injury. The defenceman suffered an unexplained upper-body injury in late March or early April.
It sidelined him for a few weeks, but Makar was able to return before the playoffs began. According to the NHL’s official website, Bednar emphasized all of this in his post-game interview, saying,
“You got to give him a lot of credit, right? Comes back, not feeling great after the injury in the first, gets sorted out and taken care of, and comes back and has a great finish to the game. Took him a little while to get engaged again, maybe tentative, and then he was like, ‘I can do this,’ and he played great and made a couple of huge plays.”
Makar also discussed his performance in the game, saying how he was striving to regain his game after returning. He said,
“I was just trying to get back and feel good. It’s not fun when you kind of tweak something, but it happens. Got to be ready for it. I had to check a couple of things out, make sure it was good to go. Felt good.”
Game 2 will be crucial for Makar, and with the game taking place at Ball Arena, things could actually go his way.
