The NFL schedule release is just around the corner. However, many games are slowly trickling out, including one major segment of the schedule: the international slate. With the games taking place outside the United States seemingly fully revealed, one matchup is taking center stage.
The NFL will host its first-ever matchup in Spain this season. Here’s what we know, starting with one report that appears to have many of the major details. Per a report posted by Ozzy, who has been tracking the schedule developments closely, on X on Tuesday, the Saints will take on the Steelers at the Stade de France.
“The Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints will face off in the inaugural NFL Paris Game at the Stade de France, per sources. The first-ever NFL game in France is set for October 25th – Week 7, with kickoff at 9:30 AM EST,” the report read.
With kickoff taking place at 9:30 am EST, the game is set to take place at 3:30 pm in Paris. The game will take place before the normal Sunday slate, similarly to the numerous London showdowns in recent history. However, if the game goes long due to overtime, it could run into the normal first batch of games that kick off at 1:00 pm EST.
Who Will Play Quarterback for the Saints and the Steelers in the Contest?
All signs point toward Tyler Shough leading the New Orleans Saints while Aaron Rodgers is expected to lead the Steelers. However, this is subject to change as Rodgers has not officially signed with the Steelers and as a quarterback in the world’s most dangerous game, Shough’s health will always be a factor.
What are the Earliest and Latest Games in the International Slate?
The first international game of the season will take place in Week 1, while the last international game of the season will take place in Week 11, according to Adam Schefter in an X report on Wednesday. In total, there are set to be nine games in the league played outside the boundaries of the United States.
