Matthew Stafford’s Teammate Kyren Williams Shows Love To Rams QB Amid Drake Maye MVP Debate

Ahead of the NFL Honors award night this Thursday, all eyes will be on the prestigious MVP award, with a couple of strong contenders in the fray for this season’s creme-de-la-creme prize.

The New England Patriots’ Drake Maye has been phenomenal for his side this season, so much so that the Massachusetts-based franchise is slated to play in Super Bowl LX against the Seattle Seahawks.

Meanwhile, despite falling short against the Seahawks in their conference championship game, much of the Los Angeles Rams’ success could be attributed to their veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford’s consistent performances throughout this season.

When asked about the sentiment around Drake Maye being touted to win the MVP over Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams’ running back Kyren Williams was quick to defend his teammate and was super vocal about why Stafford should win the award instead.

“There’s just no way. There’s no way. The things that Matthew Stafford has been doing for the last seventeen years—and he’s continuing to still do it in his latest season”, Williams stated.

“It’s a no-brainer. You know Drake Maye is a great quarterback. Don’t let my words, you know, fool you or distract you by me saying that, but I think Matthew Stafford is, you know, one of the best quarterbacks to ever play this game, and, you know, he showed us why this year”, he further elaborated.

Alongside Stafford and Maye, the likes of Christian McCaffrey, Trevor Lawrence, and Josh Allen too are in the hunt for the 2025 MVP award.

Stafford vs. Maye: Who Will Win The MVP Award?

Williams’ rooting for Stafford to win the MVP award makes a lot of sense considering how the veteran quarterback has a league-high 4,707 passing yards and a total of 46 passing touchdowns, which is 12 more than the second place.

These statistics, coupled with his eight interceptions and the second-best passer rating of 109.2 in the league, make Stafford one of the best prospects to win the MVP award.

With 4,394 passing yards, 31 passing touchdowns, eight interceptions, and a league-high passer rating of 113.5, Patriots QB Drake Maye is making a strong case for the MVP too this year, and it won’t come as a surprise if the exuberance of youth wins over the experienced veteran.
