The Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini cheating controversy has been one of the most talked-about storylines in this year’s offseason.
It all started when the two were spotted at a resort in Arizona, where they were seen hugging, getting cozy, and spending quality time together.
Both Vrabel and Russini caught a lot of flak from the fans, as they are both married to other people, and while they both blatantly denied it at first, the New England Patriots head coach did subtly accept his mistake.
Crissy Froyd, who is an NFL reporter, got fired from her job at USA Today after she wrote about the Russini-Vrabel controversy.
Talking about how this story was not a new one for the inside circle in the NFL, Froyd told Howard Eskin on Saturday:
“I mean, the biggest thing to me was the way that everyone knew and no one do did anything about it and it was obvious. And then to me, the worst part of it was is like I would almost feel bad for her if she like fell in love for 6 months and made these horrible mistakes and she owned up to it cuz everybody makes mistakes in their lifetime. We all know that and we’ve seen it time and time again. But you don’t make the same mistake for 6 years, 10 years, anything of that longevity whatsoever. And the thing was the way that she had deleted her Twitter account and it appeared, at least the way I took it and the way that most people took it,that she had been like covertly bragging on that. I mean, it’s disgusting.“ [12:00]
Mike Vrabel Opens Up About Handling Work/Life Balance in This Year’s Offseason Amid Dianna Russini Scandal
Unlike Dianna Russini, Mike Vrabel did accept that his actions haven’t been up to the standards he holds himself accountable for and even skipped Draft Day 3 to attend counseling.
Weeks after the scandal, when the Patriots began their OTAs, Vrabel was asked how he is handling the work/life balance in this offseason, to which he said:
“My family is great,” Vrabel said. “I love Jen. I love the boys. I love my personal friends. This spring is focused on, really, the coaching staff—the players, more importantly than the coaching staff.”
Vrabel also gave a cryptic response when being asked if he was expecting to miss more time off as the Patriots’ head coach, to which he said he was on the field in full force for that day, as nobody knows what the future holds.
