Will George Kittle Play Week 17? What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About 49ers TE

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle is amongst the best tight ends in the NFL. Since entering the NFL in 2017, Kittle has been named to seven Pro Bowls and has earned five All-Pro selections.

Playing in his ninth NFL season this year, Kittle has showed no signs of slowing down. In 10 games played this season, Kittle has recorded 52 receptions for 599 yards and seven receiving touchdowns. In the 49ers’ last game, facing the Indianapolis Colts last Monday night, Kittle had the best game of the season, recording seven receptions (on eight targets) for 115 yards and a receiving touchdown.

However, Kittle didn’t play the full game and left early.

    George Kittle Injury Update

George Kittle left last Monday night’s game against the Indianapolis Colts with an ankle injury. Kittle left in the third quarter and did not return back.

Kittle was seen limping on the sidelines and off the field after the game, showing discomfort and some pain. He told reporters that he didn’t believe that he suffered a high ankle sprain.

Tests later proved Kittle right, as ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported on Tuesday that Kittle only suffered a low-mid ankle sprain.

Is George Kittle Going to Play This Week?

Like many players who are in question to play this weekend, it’s too early to tell whether or not George Kittle will be active this weekend. Kittle was listed as a non-participant in the team’s Wednesday and Thursday practices.

General manager John Lynch told reporters on Friday that Kittle will likely be a game-time decision ahead of Sunday night’s showdown against the Bears.

Kittle’s status in practice on Friday should give more of an idea on his probability off suiting up for Sunday night.

The 49ers currently hold the fifth seed in the NFC West with an 11-4 record. They close out the regular season with two tough games against the Chicago Bears and then against the Seattle Seahawks next week.
