Aaron Rodgers Injury Update: Did Pittsburgh Steelers QB Get Hurt Today During Bengals Showdown

Then the Pittsburgh Steelers suffered a significant hit after quarterback Aaron Rodgers left the game with an apparent injury in the second quarter against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fans want to know if their star quarterback was hurt and who will take over in case Rodgers is unable to return.

    Did Aaron Rodgers Get Hurt?

According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, Aaron Rodgers suffered a left wrist injury late in the second quarter. He also notes that backup quarterback Mason Rudolph is already warming up.

When Rodgers left the field, the Steelers were leading the game 10-6.

After the injury, the veteran quarterback was taken to the locker room for further evaluation. He is questionable to return in this game.

    Who is Aaron Rodgers’ Backup?

The primary backup for the Steelers in this game was Mason Rudolph. The QB2 has experience as a starter in the NFL. Moreover, the Steelers have also activated rookie Will Howard from injured reserve, so he serves as an emergency third option.

Earlier this month, Rodgers apparently injured his hand during pregame warmups before Week 9 against the Colts. He spiked the ball and immediately afterwards, he was seen checking up on his pinky finger.

So far this season, Rodgers has led the Steelers to a 5-4 record. The veteran has thrown for 1,853 yards, including 18 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.

Rodgers signed a one-year deal with the Steelers in June. The contract reportedly guarantees $10 million, with a maximum value of around $19.5 million depending on incentives.

While it is expected to be the last season of Rodgers, the Steelers are open to negotiating a contract if he is open to playing one more season.

“My understanding is the Steelers have really, really enjoyed the Aaron Rodgers experience,” NFL insider Ian Rapoport said in late October. “Coaches, executives, players. He has bonded with several young players in the locker room. I would not be surprised, based on how he is and how he’s playing, if they want him back for another year despite just signing him to a one-year deal.

“Until Rodgers says he is for sure, for sure retiring after this year, we will continue to wonder.”

Analysts see Rodgers as a “bridge quarterback” for the Steelers before they hand the reins to Howard.
